Whitney Port: Back to "The City" Grind

Getting back to work on her MTV show, Whitney Port was spotted out in New York City on Wednesday afternoon (March 24).

Recently returned to the Big Apple after spending time in Australia and Los Angeles, the 25-year-old looked lovely as she arrived on the set of "The City" in the West Village.

The sighting comes shortly after it was revealed that Miss Port is facing a troubling situation - as she's been sued by designer Adrienne Baravetto.

Miss Baravetto claims she hasn't been paid a penny after doing most of the leg work for Miss Port's fashionable offerings - for which she was guaranteed an $80,000/year salary and 25% ownership.

In response, Whitney's lawyer, Michael A. Taitelman, tells People magazine, “The lawsuit that Adrienne Baravetto filed on March 19, 2010 against Whitney Eve, Inc., Whitney Port and others regarding the Whitney Eve clothing line is baseless and without merit. Whitney Port is, and always has been, the designer of Whitney Eve. Baravetto worked for Whitney Eve for a short period of time ending in early 2008. For more than two years, she has been silent. For reasons that we will uncover, she has decided to make these unsubstantiated allegations at this time. The defendants will vigorously defend themselves, and upon the successful conclusion of this lawsuit in their favor, they intend to hold Baravetto and her counsel accountable for their reckless conduct.”

Designer: Whitney Port Jacked My Style

Whitney Port is not the driving force behind her own clothing line -- this according to the designer who claims she did most of the work ... but got a raw deal financially.

According to a lawsuit filed Friday in L.A. County Superior Court, "Whitney Eve" -- which is advertised as Whitney Port's clothing line -- is mostly the work of designer Adrienne Baravetto.

In the court documents, Baravetto claims she met with Whitney Port and her father in 2007 to create a clothing line for women called Eve & A.

According to the suit, Baravetto claims she never signed an official contract but there was an oral agreement between both parties -- and she was promised an $80,000 annual salary plus 25 percent of the company.

Once the line got positive media attention -- and was purchased by several high-end retailers like Fred Segal -- Baravetto claims Whitney and her dad changed the name to "Whitney Eve" and cut Baravetto out of the deal.

Baravetto wants everything she says she was promised, plus punitive damages.

UPDATE: According to Whitney's rep, Baravetto's lawsuit is "baseless and without merit."
