Kardashian Sisters Sued For $75M In CC Damage

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian are being sued by the Revenue Resource Group for breaching their MasterCard contract, Radar Online has learned.

The lawsuit claims the Kardashian sisters caused upwards of $75 million in credit card damage when they backed out a deal with MasterCard after furious backlash slamming the card’s “outrageous” fees and criticism towards the reality-TV family for endorsing it.

As Radar Online previously reported, on November 29, 2010 Richard Blumenthal, Attorney General for Connecticut, released a letter from a Kardashian lawyer showing that the Kardashians pulled out of the agreement allowing the bank to use their images.

The Revenue Resource Group claims in their lawsuit that the Kardashians signed a two-year agreement that has left the company with the raw end of the deal since the sisters backed out – and they want compensation.

Pamela Banks, senior policy counsel for Consumers Union in Washington, D.C. said, "Tying a card to someone who is famous or wealthy can get more consumers to say, 'I want to be more like the rich and famous.

“But prepaid debit cards do not have the same protections that traditional debit cards have, and often have hidden fees that eat away at their value."

In addition to the Kardashian sisters, their company Dash Dolls LLC and their mother, Kris Jenner, are being sued as well.

Calls to the Kardashian’s attorney have not been returned.

The Kardashians 'Terminate' MasterCard Deal

http://consumerist.com/kardashiankard.jpgThe Kardashian family has officially pulled the plug on the new "Kardashian Kard" -- a prepaid debit card backed by MasterCard -- over allegations that it's riddled with hidden, possibly illegal fees.

The family fired off a "Notice of Termination" to the companies behind the Kard moments ago -- stating they're sick of the "negative spotlight" since the Attorney General of Connecticut opened an investigation to determine if the Kard violates consumer protection laws.

The A.G. was concerned over several fees associated with the Kard -- which reportedly costs $9.95 to own ... plus 12 monthly fees of $7.95. It also costs $1.50 every time the owner wants to add money to the Kard.

In the letter, obtained by TMZ, Kardashian lawyers write, "The Kardashians have worked extremely long and hard to create a positive public persona that appeals to everyone, particularly young adults."

The lawyers claim the investigation "threatens everything for which [The Kardashians] have worked" -- so the family has decided to "terminate the agreement ... effective immediately."
