Kristin Cavallari ditched The Hills to do a little charity work in El Salvador last month.
"Going to El Salvador was such an incredible experience," Cavallari, who traveled to the Central American country on Jan. 14, tells
UsMagazine.com. The actress spruced up a local school with murals and played games like soccer and hop-scotch with students.
"It really put everything into perspective and made me appreciate everything I have," continued Cavallari, 23. "Seeing how happy and excited the kids were was the best feeling in the world."
The reality star -- who is currently filming the sixth season of MTV's The Hills -- will next travel with the One Kid, One World organization on a goodwill trip to Kenya later this year.

Kristin was not afraid to get down in the trenches and do some hard work to help out the kiddos. She helped build a new classroom as well as paint and improve the bathrooms for a school.
