Hot Shots: Speidi's Top 5 Publicity Stunts Of '09

Spencer and Heidi have been uncharacteristically quiet these past few weeks, but they spent the better part of 2009 trying to plaster their names, faces and even their unmentionables, in tabloids 'round the world. Yep, twas the year of the Speidi, and the last 12 months saw the happy couple take on Miss Universe, throw down with Al Roker and storm out of the I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! jungle after declaring themselves "too famous" to rough it.

Through it all, the Pratts also found time to say their "I do's," write (and promote!) the book on fame and turn their new puppies into the hottest accessories since the handbag ... So put down that Taco Bell takeout and take a look back at Speidi's five biggest "Say 'Cheese!'" moments of '09.

Say Cheese Moment, Number 5: After three proposals, two years and one Mexican elopement, Speidi finally tie the knot. Despite all the hoopla (and, hello, the TV cameras!) Heidi still manages to look surprised.

Say Cheese Moment, Number 4: Speidi caps off their wedding spectacular with a romantic trip to the Swine Flu capital of the world. Fortunately, the couple takes all the necessary safety precuations to ensure that they're (the only ones) not suffering from nausea in Mexico.

Say Cheese Moment, Number 3: For Halloween, the Pratts go all out, dressing up as everybody's favorite dysfunctional couple, the Gosselins! Because, as Spencer puts it, "What's scarier than Speidi Plus Eight?

Say Cheese Moment, Number 2: Heidi does a sexy spread in Playboy magazine. Spencer sums up the cover (featuring a bikini-clad Montag) in three words: "real beautiful art."

Say Cheese Moment, Number 1: The Pratts divulge their tricks of the (tabloid) trade in a new tome, titled How To Be Famous. As before, it's a clear case of art imitating life.

Basking in their publicity glory, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were spotted outside the “Jimmy Kimmel Show” in Hollywood, CA last night (November 19).

Assuming their usual positions, the married couple posed for pictures arm-in-arm while pretending to kiss as to not smudge Ms Montag’s freshly glossed lips.

As of late, “The Hills” stars have been busy promoting their new book, “How to Be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture.”

Of the book, Heidi and Spencer told press, “They always say, “Write what you know,” and we know how to be famous. Plus, we’re both extremely giving people.”

Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt Seek Hills Spinoff

This is what terrorist interrogation materials dreams are made of.

Fame-lovers Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are apparently feeling starved of attention because they are shopping around a reality show of their own.

The gruesome twosome is angling to branch out from the MTV hit, The Hills, to give viewers even more insight into their absurdly over-exposed lives.

”You don’t get to see our everyday lives and what we do,” says Heidi.

We're not sure we do. Our Heidi Montag nude tolerance is high, but not that high. Then again, maybe he's afraid to put out for his baby-crazy wife.

Currently promoting their new book, How to be Famous, the couple want their spin-off to include everything - everything - that happens to them.

But don’t get your hopes up, readers at home. In this scenario, they won’t be leaving The Hills, instead they would try to appear on both shows.

Talk about a dream scenario if ever there were one.

One thing we actually would love to see? Them sitting around and deciding how to bash Al Roker on Twitter. Do they plan everything for attention?

Heidi and Spencer Pratt: Borders Book Launch

Hot on the promotional trail, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt turned up at Borders Books & Music, Columbus Circle in New York City on Monday (November 16).

Following a previous stop at MTV studios, the “Hills” couple hit up the local bookstore to boost interest in their just-released book, “How To Be Famous”.

As previously reported by Gossip Center, the MTV co-star lovers were snubbed earlier on in the day by the “Today” show - having their scheduled morning appearance canceled at the last minute.

All day long, Spencer has been slamming weatherman Al Roker, saying things like, “WEATHERMAN I thought you were out of town today getting your stomach stapled again?” and “is it true you have been married 6 times? I’m sure all your wives left you when they realized you were abusive to women! Sicko!”

The feud between Al and Speidi began in June when the pair appeared on the talk show to promote their appearance on “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!”

Roker, 55, took the liberty to tell Pratt he was considered a “jerk,” while Montag claims Roker made her cry with his “rude” questioning.

They’re always up for a publicity opportunity, and earlier today (November 16) Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were spotted on their way to an interview with “Access Hollywood” to promote their book “How To Be Famous.”

The “Hills” lovers looked to be in good spirits as they left their Midtown Manhattan hotel and headed for NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza.

Last night, the peroxide pair arrived on a transcontinental flight from LAX into JFK International Airport ahead of today’s festivities.

And like the swanky couple that they are, Heidi and Spencer immediately headed off to the Waverly Inn for a delicious gourmet dinner.

Spencer & Heidi’s ‘Today’ Interview Canceled

No, your DVR didn’t miss something this morning: Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag’s interview on Today was canceled. A rep announced today, “Due to a change in the show’s schedule, we had to cancel the interview with Spencer and Heidi Pratt.”

Today was scheduled to air an interview with Spencer and Heidi to promote their new book How To Be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture.

Whatever the reason for the cancellation, Al Roker is probably very relieved that he didn’t have to face Speidi again — and perhaps the feeling is mutual!

Heidi and Spencer Pratt: LAX PDA Lovin’ Pair

Playing it up for the paparazzi, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were up to their usual self promotion at LAX Airport in Los Angeles on Sunday (November 15).

Being dropped off to catch an outbound flight, the “Hills” co-star couple proudly showed off their new book “How to be Famous” as they kissed one another while passing through the security checkpoint.

With their new book due out on November 16th, Heidi and Spencer joked with Playboy of their 2010 plans, “We’re going to adopt an African baby, date Vince Vaughn, shave our heads, pretend Spencer is trapped in a balloon and have octuplets.”

The “Hills” lovers also chatted about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s well-plotted press power, as Heidi told, “Well, we wouldn’t want to piss them off. She might steal Spencer—you know, because she steals people’s husbands! But seriously, we’d love to sit down and discuss fame with them. Consider this your formal invitation, Brangelina. Let’s hang out sometime. We’ll be SpeidiLina!”

Heidi, Spencer "to Adopt an African Baby"

From being trapped in the jungle to sparring with Al Roker, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have had quite a year. Their goal for 2010?

"We're going to adopt an African baby, date Vince Vaughn, shave our heads, pretend Spencer is trapped in a balloon and have octuplets," they joke in a joint interview with Playboy.com while promoting their new book, How to Be Famous (out Nov. 16).

Asked why they wrote the book, "They always say, "Write what you know," and we know how to be famous," the two say.

In the book, they praise Us Weekly cover stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for being able to manipulate the press to their advantage. They don't mean that in a bad way, either.

"Well, we wouldn't want to piss them off. She might steal Spencer—you know, because she steals people's husbands!" Montag says. "But seriously, we'd love to sit down and discuss fame with them. Consider this your formal invitation, Brangelina. Let's hang out sometime. We'll be SpeidiLina!"

How To Make Yourself Into A Complete Jackass

Hated reality TV star Spencer Pratt has decided to enlighten us all by writing a book called “How to Be Famous.” I think he should retitle it “How To Make Yourself Into A Complete Jackass.”

In the book, Spencer tries to make himself out to be a Public Relations bad ass. He brags about leaking the deets of Lauren Conrad’s sex tape because she was mean to Heidi Montag and seems to think that now that she’s gone from The Hills he’s going to rule.

One thing we agree with? “If I weren’t me, I’d hate me,” he writes. Yeah dude, that’s pretty much how it is.
