Leighton Meester's Quest for Singing Success

Most of us know her as the devious Blair Waldorf on the hit show “Gossip Girl,” but Leighton Meester proved to be quite the talented actress in her latest movie “Country Strong".

The 24-year-old recently sat down with MTV News and explained that, although she’s not even a country singer, she worked closely with her very own music producer to perfect her role as a country singing beauty queen.

"I think it was really surprising how everything kind of came together," Meester said of the training. "Each of us got our own producers to work with and mine [Nathan Chapman], he works very closely with Taylor Swift, which is sort of similar, in the same vein of the music that I'm making in the movie.”

Revealing her new love for Nashville, TN, Leighton added, "Just being in Nashville and working there and meeting the most incredible musicians and producers and songwriters and singers, just being in that world was really cool," the "Gossip Girl" star said. "I have this newfound appreciation for that style of music."

'The Hills' Was 'Not Scripted,' Kelly Cutrone Says

Was it real or fake? That's the question many fans seem to be considering since credits rolled on "The Hills" for the last time on Tuesday night. The show's creator, Adam DiVello, revealed on Thursday (July 15) that the final moment between Brody and Kristin was staged. But a onetime castmember of the hit reality series, PR maven Kelly Cutrone — now on MTV's "The City" — insists that everything else on the show is for real.

"Well, not really, because the show's not scripted," Cutrone told MTV News when asked whether fans should now re-think the show given the finale episode. "It's just not. I've been on the show, it's not scripted. I think it's a whole piss-take on everybody going, 'Is the show scripted? Is it not scripted?' "

Plus, Cutrone said, it was the best possible way to end a show that is, in fact, a reality show.

"I mean the show's got to end somehow, and if the show's based in reality, how do you end something that's real? I mean, what do you do? So the whole [thing] was a flip," she concluded. "I thought it was funny that it ended with Brody!"

''The Hills'' Will Go 'Out With A Bang' - Audrina

So much drama has unfolded over six seasons of "The Hills." In the last season alone, viewers saw Heidi Montag reveal her drastic plastic surgery makeover, Spencer Pratt begin to unravel and watched in surprise as Kristin Cavallari put herself out there, only to be rejected by ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner. But "Hills" castmate Audrina Patridge says fans should only expect more drama when the series' farewell episode airs Tuesday night (July 13).

"It's our last season, so we're going out with a bang," Audrina told MTV News.

And while friendship has been the focus of the reality-TV series, which premiered in May 2006, Kristin and Audrina admit that it's the over-the-top mischief they've loved most about the show. And if anyone knows about trouble, it's Cavallari, who first turned up halfway through season five, but has since made the sixth and final season all her own.

"I was really nervous coming onto 'The Hills,' " Kristin confessed. "I was the new girl. Going to Heidi and Spencer's wedding, no one knew I was coming. But it ended up being pretty easy."

Cavallari also acknowledged that her now-infamous fight with Audrina at a "welcome back" party for Speidi may have sealed her fate as a "Hills" legend.

"That was the whole point. I wanted to come on and get people talking," Kristin said. "I knew that it was gonna stir things up. ... I had no idea certain things, like that fight, would have such an impact."

As for one of her more memorable lines from that nasty fight — "I'm sorry I walked up here and you guys came at me like piranhas" — the "Hills" star says it was TV gold.

"That was pretty good. It came out of nowhere," she laughed. "I was proud of that one."

Audrina, on the other hand, couldn't nail down one specific moment she'd remember most. There were simply too many to choose from over six seasons, she told us back in April.

"There's so many favorite moments," Patridge said. "It's funny because watching the show with the music, it makes it so emotional. So there's been a lot of moments, fun moments, like going on vacation and just having fun with each other. There's been so many dramatic moments and fights and tears and ups-and-downs of friendships and relationships, so really watching those — I mean, at the finale, we are probably all going to start crying. It is going to be a sad, sad moment."
